Hello, I’m Marci.
I’m usually smiling, perhaps in response to a fuzzy cat, my amazing husby,
or myself, because I sometimes think I am funny.
I used to be a cartoonist, but now I am a fish biologist. I used to bellydance, but now I play roller derby.
I’ve lived all over the United States, but I’ve found a home in the Pacific Northwest.
My friends might describe me as quirky, but I like the word snarky better
(it sounds like “shark”, and it’s got BITE!).
Did I mention I love cats? I have five of them.
But life is not always perfect. I just found out I’m allergic to cats (true story).
I’ve had challenges in my life, including parents who split up when I was young, being the black sheep in my family while I was growing up, struggling with depression and anxiety, and making the wrong choices when it came to men (no longer, though!).
I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do with my life.
Maybe I’m a little like you.
Hello, this is my blog.
This is my creative outlet in a world that immerses me in regulatory jargon and research. I want you to laugh with me, relate through our common experiences, and let me know what you think. I value my thoughts enough to write this blog, and I value your thoughts as well.
I hope you will share them with me!
I couldn’t resist reading this page. I never meet a former cartooning, ex-belly dancing, roller derbying, fish biologist before. This has the potential to become a very interesting blog.
Thank you thank you! I’m hoping that it will be interesting – I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to look about 😀
you don’t come across them every day now, do you?
Ha! I suppose not, but I guess I’m still looking for my perfect niche. Next year I’m thinking about joining the circus 😉
After reading this, I already think you are awesome! No doubt about it.
Awwwww – thanks so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to stop by my little corner of the internet. I’m looking forward to reading more from you on your blog, too! 😀
I like you just because you like cats :3 haha.
Liking cats is definitely a good personality trait to start with when getting to know someone! 😀
You sound like a fascinating person, Marci! No more fish biology? I work at an environmental consulting company, so that piqued my interest!
Hi Marie! Actually, I’m still a fish biologist – that’s my primary occupation. However, I just started taking a certification program to work with therapy animals (animals helping people), so we’ll see where that goes. Can you tell I get bored easily 😉 What do you do with the enviro consulting company?
You sound like my kind of person! I love snarky!! 🙂
Ha ha ha!!! We’ve all got to maintain a sense of humor in this crazy world we live in, and I’m happy to remind at least myself of that. And others sometimes, those who need to laugh a little more. Hurray for snarkiness! 😀
Wow! You are so many things rolled into one! 🙂
Thanks, Rama! I think we’re all so many things wrapped into one – it’s what makes each of us unique and special. Thanks for stopping by! ❤
I love this! You have something that a lot of people don’t… a personality! And you’re very honest! You’ve made me realise that I don’t have a real ‘About me’ page yet.. Hmm 🙂 ❤
Oh, thank you!!! The About page is always a work in progress – I’ll change it up every so often. That’s the wonderful thing about having a blog, isn’t it? Nothing is permanent, unless you want it to be. It’s you’re own little room in a very big world, and it’s entirely up to you what you want to do with it. Have fun! ❤
Hey Snarky Marci! Great blog! We do share several things in common. Our love of cats, (a very good thing) and a history of depression and anxiety (a very bad thing). What stands out is your sense of humor and your passion for life in spite of the latter. I’m still working at it, but I’ll get there!
Hi Judith! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog. I’ve found that, for me, having a sense of humor is the only thing that keeps me from crying…that, and cats 🙂 It’s hard sometimes, which you know about. But, we keep moving forward, hopefully to better things that will be more rewarding than what we’ve gotten following the same old patterns. Speaking to that is your pursuit for certification with ABI – onward and upward! And cats! ❤ 🐱
